Job Description

BAE Systems is hiring an Employee Relations Investigator to support our Platform and Services Sector businesses. As an Employee Relations Investigator, you will conduct employment-related investigations from intake through completion by developing investigation strategy, conducting interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses. Analyze electronic and written records, drafting investigation reports, communicating efficiently with key leadership throughout the investigation, and delivering investigative findings to appropriate stakeholders. Employee workforce includes administrative, technical and manufacturing workforce in geographically diverse locations. This role will partner with other members of the broader Human Resources and related functions to deliver timely solutions that support the business and ensure employees are treated fairly and in accordance with our practices and policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Create timely and comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, relevant policies, summary of relevant evidence and findings, and basis for investigatory conclusion.
  • Investigations are highly sensitive, complex and include a broad range of employment matters including, but not limited to, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, performance management, management practices, and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Review, finalize and provide guidance to people leaders on written documentation, including but not limited to, performance plans, warnings, memo's, documented discussion, etc. to ensure clarity and precision. All documentation must be well written and include key information in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with Legal, Human Resources, Ethics, Security, SHE, and other investigative partners
  • Provide timely, creative and relevant ER advice, guidance and recommendations to influence and support people leaders, HRBP's, employees and other key stakeholders in building positive employee relations.
  • Ensure each case is tracked and documented accurately and appropriately, with all relevant attachments in the case management system and within set timeframe of resolution.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to organize, synthesize, and analyze varied and complex information, problems, and data to make recommendations guided by policies, practices, procedures and business need.
  • Provide assistance, guidance and support for other HR related initiatives as requested.


Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years progressive experience in HR, with 4+ years emphasis and strength in employee relations/ investigations
  • Working knowledge of employment laws (both State and Federal) and regulations (ADA, EEO, FMLA, Wage & Hour), as well as the ability to appropriately interpret and apply policies, laws and business practices when investigating employment matters.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently while instinctively keeping all relevant parties properly informed.
  • High degree of judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong ability to remain respectful and diplomatic in difficult situations.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to utilize exceptional active listening skills.
  • Adept at conducting interviews and investigation virtually and in-person.
  • Ability to document investigative decisions clearly, accurately and analytically with the ability to support detailed findings.
  • Proven track record of partnering with legal, line management, HR compliance on workplace relations matters.
