The Associate Vice President of RHN Physician Services will report to the Senior Vice President of the RUMC Health Network to develop and implement a comprehensive physician recruitment, onboarding, retention, and relations program for the entire health system. This position is responsible for supporting and assisting with all aspects of new physician and advanced practitioner recruitment and will also be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and long-range plans to retain the best physicians within RUMC. Responsible for nurturing and maintaining excellent relationships with existing and referring physicians and their office staff, as well as identifying and developing new referral sources. This position will lead the strategic vision for Physician Recruiting and Physician Services staff and serve as cross-functional manager for the onboarding of new physicians.
  1. Implement processes for supporting RHN leadership in the selection, recruitment and staffing of physicians and advanced practitioners for service lines throughout RUMC.
  2. Assists in developing a strategic, long-range Physician Recruitment/Retention Plan including a Manpower Needs Assessment, as needed.
  3. Ensure operations and processes are in place to meet or exceed recruitment and retention goals.
  4. Develop methodology for measuring and reporting on recruitment and retention outcomes to RUMC Senior Leadership.
  5. Cultivate relationships with regional and local residency programs to create a pipeline for RUMC.
  6. Negotiate contracts with vendors, such as physician and executive search firms, recruiting services providers, locum tenens services, etc.
  7. Develop and manage department budget. Evaluate spending on an on-going basis with the goal of maximizing cost effectiveness and ROI of operations.
  8. Lead, develop and participate in the interview process for physician and advanced practitioner candidates with RUMC and their affiliates.
  9. Facilitate relationships with employed and community-based physicians to align RUMC services with the individual needs of their practices.
  10. Assist the SVP with all practice management duties, reports and systems as instructed.
  11. Create data structure for volume tracking and reporting for appropriate RUMC service lines. Analyze market data, referral volume and marketing plans to determine business development objectives.
  12. Develop and analyze reports for trends on inpatient/outpatient utilization patterns and report outcomes for RUMC Senior Leadership.
  13. Develop, implement, and maintain CRM for RUMC.
  14. Identify and work cross-functionally with RUMC to eliminate barriers that physicians feel get in their way of using RUMC services.
  15. Collaborate with leadership of each department/service line to understand their goals and facilitate relationships with referring physicians.
  16. Maintain and supervise documentation of the physician services representative and report on pertinent market information to RUMC Senior Leadership.
  17. Ensure issues and needs raised by community-based physicians are addressed and resolved. Measure and report physician satisfaction.
  18. Work with RUMC Marketing to develop recruiting resources and educational materials for use by referring physicians and their staff.
  19. Demonstrates proficiency with information systems and serves a s a resource to referring physicians and their staff by providing assistance and basic information/training to access the Hospital's network and clinical applications.
  20. Understanding of the Stark/Anti-Kickback laws and other regulations.\
  21. Works with RHN Leadership in any capacity needed to support practice management and physician onboarding functions.
  22. Ensures that all process steps needed for provider onboarding are adhered to in a timely manner.
  23. Assists in all practice management activities as assigned by the SVP including analysis, accounts payable and data management.
  24. Supports value-based payment activities throughout the Network.
  25. Drives and grows referral activity by touring providers to other offices and creating systems to minimize leakage of physician and ancillary services.

EDUCATION: Master's degree preferred in health leadership disciplines.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years' experience at the Director level or higher in a large academic medical group setting.

Certified Physician Practice Management (CPPM) Executive certification preferred.

Nurse leaders with practice management experience considered.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000
