Summary You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic in the Public Works Department of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. You don't need to be active duty military to serve your country Duties * You will operate electrical test equipment (e.g., voltage detectors, multimeters) to determine the presence of electrical energy * You will conduct visual inspections and operational tests to determine the need for maintenance or repair work. * You will lay out job systems and components from blueprints and sketches in compliance with federal, state, and local codes. * You will follow instructions specified in work orders to perform maintenance and repair work. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1) Using masonry methods and techniques and skill in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying structures. 2) Producing finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions, structural soundness, and finished appearance. 3) Having skills in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment, to include powered and hand tools, to produce products with precise fits, accurate dimensions, and acceptable appearance.
