Role Definition
A dielectric test technician is responsible for the execution of electrical functionality tests of CSA (Caterpillar Switchgear Americas) products. Job duties include removal of designated wires from components, troubleshooting of any incorrect results, updating documentation per additional engineering red-lines, customize procedures with engineering assistance. You will also reconnect wires after successful testing according to the wiring drawings. You will need to operate with minimal supervision according to CSA standards and drawings utilizing the required tools, repair all issues found, and maintain proper documentation.
Degree Requirement:
Associates degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent level experience.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Understand the difference between AC and DC voltages and able to accurately and timely perform all wiring duties on sub panels, door devices and enclosures.
- Verify that all upstream In Process Quality Check (IPQC) forms are properly completed.
- Verify that there is no continuity between the different levels of voltage whether AC or DC voltage.
- Thoroughly document all issues through the IPQC process with precise detail.
- Must understand basic electrical AC and DC principals, electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience with low and medium voltage (480 - 25kV) electrical components.
- Possess basic computer skills to include M365 and ability to utilize CSA Applications.
- Understand and be able to complete all documentation pertaining to the job: Hi-pot list, Hi-pot copy and Punch List.
- Able to wire and route harness's neatly with or without the use of wire loom, according to CSA standards.
- Understand the usage of hardware such as screws, bolts, nuts, washers, etc. according to CSA Procedures Manual.
- Ensure quality expectations are met.
- Be able to perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor/ Manager.
- Understand and adhere to strict safety policies.
- Safely perform all dielectric tests on switchgear and other Caterpillar Switchgear products.
- Maintain accurate quality records to identify trends for corrective measures.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Electrical Troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge and experience with electrical test equipment (Ex: Multimeter, Hi-pot).
- Inspection experience.
- Work well in a team environment
- Self-starter, continuous learner
- Ability to understand, identify and troubleshoot problems
