Job Description:

- Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness and organizing them for placement in files.
- Prepare health information forms, including preparing charts for new admissions and preparing requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, and length of stay metrics.
- File reports into health information records, maintain information in logs and filing systems, retrieve records as needed.
- Provide information from health records after ensuring the appropriateness of the request, and coordinate with other departments regarding health records procedures.
- Perform proofreading of medical reports to recognize errors and assess completeness, ensuring all necessary reports and signatures are present.

- Knowledge of health information technology, confidentiality of patient information, and regulatory requirements for medical record-keeping.
- Skill in using a word processor and calculator.
- Ability to address problems with few variables in a familiar context and write routine business documentation following standard procedures.
- Classify and organize information effectively related to data, people, or tasks.
