Job Title: Field Construction Safety Officer

Location: Carrollton, GA


GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Field Construction Safety Officer will oversee contractors to ensure adherence to safety and compliance requirements at both federal, state and local levels, as well as meeting client expectations.


CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures environmental health and safety compliance and program management for multiple construction projects within an assigned territory.
  • Identifies safety issues at project sites, ensures compliance with Federal, State, Local and owner safety requirements.
  • Develops and executes safety protocols to mitigate all safety risks.
  • Conducts daily site safety inspections to check on tools, machinery, and other potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, customer safety department and construction managers to be sure all potential risk management and safety issues are addressed.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and support to subcontractors for site compliance regarding International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS), and Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) standards.
  • Document and report when a safety incident happens and update risk mitigation plans to prevent similar incidents.
  • Write and submit weekly safety reports to document hazards, updated safety plans, and any worker safety concerns.
  • Works without any monitoring or supervision
  • The ability to work at heights is essential.
  • All other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2+ years of construction safety experience.
  • Possession of at least a high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a post-secondary degree is preferred.
  • OSHA 30- Hour Certification required.
  • Fall Protection Training/Certification required.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc. to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).
  • Demonstrates aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine safety solutions, execute corrective action and prevent unsafe future occurrences.
  • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications.
  • Driving is a requirement for this position. Therefore, must have the ability to travel domestically via operating a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver license and driving record which is acceptable to our insurance provider.
  • Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements.
  • The ability to travel by plane and/or overnight travel may be required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customer account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication.
  • The ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at assigned job locations is essential. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines.
  • Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
  • Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods.
  • Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges.
  • Ability to accurately distinguish color variation.
  • Read at, above, and below shoulder height.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold.
  • Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required.
  • Must be able to carry, push, pull, reach and lift up to 50 lbs.; climb ladders/extension ladders, climb scaffold stair towers routinely; climb and traverse different roof levels.
  • The ability to be lifted to and work at varying heights.
  • Must have the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
