Position Description:

Builds the next generation of Cloud-based database infrastructure solutions, and provides robust and scalable platforms that meet business requirements. Provides Oracle and Cloud platform solutions and ensures database security. Supports and evolves complex database infrastructure and processes to achieve high scale and efficiency while meeting agreed to service levels. Leads the database administration team responsible for implementing and supporting database platform solutions supporting all Asset Management (AM) product lines and business partners. Identifies opportunities and influences database decisions across the organization by researching and recommending the application of appropriate technologies, processes, and tools.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Guides Agile teams to drive the adoption of new technologies that encourage reuse, ensure operational efficiency, accelerate time to market, and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Leads the team in the development and execution of data and infrastructure strategy for platforms and subject areas.
  • Drives database technology infrastructure lifecycle initiatives.
  • Drives the adoption of new technologies to encourage reuse, ensure operational efficiency, accelerate time to market, and help drive data-driven decision making.
  • Leads, implements, and supports database technology platforms.
  • Implements and supports new database technology solutions for applications that support business processes for multiple systems or sub-systems.
  • Ensures the stability and business continuity of critical database platforms.
  • Ensures synchronization and synergy between IT and business governance processes through close collaboration with business partners.
  • Develops and maintains a high performing global workforce.
  • Collaborates with product, chapter, and squad leads on product and delivery requirements, roadmaps, and vision.
  • Sets visions, goals, and direction of team/organization.
  • Plans and leads organization wide initiatives.
  • Provides leadership, technical supervisions, and expertise to multiple teams on the modernization and migration of legacy database capabilities to the cloud.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems and directs programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Provides technical support to junior staff or clients.
  • Develops standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
  • Develops methods for integrating products to ensure functionality.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Technology Management - Database Administration (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in a financial service environment or a financial services IT solutions environment.

Or, alternatively, Master s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Technology Management - Database Administration (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in a financial service environment or a financial services IT solutions environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (\u201CDE\u201D) coaching and mentoring a team of database administrators that ensure the stability of asset management database platforms in a highly matrixed global organization; collaborating with partners on new database technology product roadmaps and delivery; and acting as an escalation contact for production support crisis management and vendor support escalation triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis in an asset management trading environment.
  • DE planning, designing, and implementing Oracle database platform changes, server configurations, and patch upgrades and migrations, using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Oracle RMAN database backup and recovery utilities, Delphix Appliances, GoldenGate database replication, and Oracle Data Guard technologies; implementing and supporting Oracle fine grained database access using VPD; and performing SQL performance analysis, using Oracle xplan and SQL optimizer trace.
  • DE assessing and testing database infrastructure changes (service requests, automated incidents, and change management) to adhere to security policies and change management procedures, and evaluating business risk from a server, storage, network, and database perspective using Service Now; and assessing database capacity and performance management, using Oracle Automatic Workload repository and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • DE designing, building, monitoring, and managing database infrastructure in Cloud using automated deployment tools -- Jenkins, Cloud Formation Stacks, CloudWatch dashboards, and Python; optimizing Cloud costs and influencing product enhancements and Cloud deployment roadmaps in collaboration with architecture teams; evaluating new Cloud features; and analyzing storage solutions for database infrastructure resiliency and database backup solutions using CommVault.
