RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the master distiller in day-to-day operation of the distillery
  • Assist in managing the granary – receive grain, operate the mill, monitor quality and grind of the grain
  • Assist in mashing operation, including record keeping
  • Monitor fermentation process – samples, record keeping
  • Assist with distillations, including record keeping
  • Quality assurance of raw distillate and finished products
  • Washing gear, general cleaning and maintenance of the distillery
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of all distillation processes and procedures


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a damp, wet environment with hot liquids, airborne particles, chemicals and moving machinery.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Positive disposition, good with people (co-workers and visitors)
  • Interest in craft distilling
  • No felonies on your criminal record (required by our state & federal regulators)
  • Be willing to work weekends
  • Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness
  • Comfortable working around potentially hazardous conditions


Experience

Experience in brewing (extensive home brewing counts) preferred. Experience in fermentation, fractional distillation, liquid packaging/bottling and/or chemical analysis a plus.
