Reporting to the COO of a privately held leading national provider of same day/next day delivery company handling time sensitive, high value shipments.


The CIO will spearhead IT and related evolution the growth & strategic direction of all IT related activity for the US. Annual sales exceed $200 million with over 150 employees and 3+ locations. This role will provide technology related vision and leadership in the development, implementation, and management of the company’s information technology (IT) capabilities. Accountable for planning, implementing and maintaining enterprise information systems that enhance the company’s market position and cost efficiency. The position is responsible for directing information and data integrity of the enterprise and provide leadership in day-to-day operations of company’s IT resources including but not limited to Data centers, help desk, communication networks, website, financial accounting systems, enterprise systems and office productivity tools. Strategic Leadership for vision of best in class technology increasing efficiency, visibility, data, dash boards, metrics for business operations. In addition, will be a member of the Executive Committee evaluating and recommending both long term strategic initiatives and short-term tactical decisions for the organization. Will set the vision for and lead the IT related company evolution. Responsible for evaluating and building a team of IT professionals. Challenge is to evaluate and implement changes which enhance the capabilities for the organization and customer for rapid growth and improved profitability.


Background Required:

  • 5 years of Sr. Management within IT related activity preferably in the areas of transportation services.
  • Provides strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the company’s information and technology systems and financial reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to align IT investments to deliver organizational goals.
  • Coordinates and controls all projects related to selection, acquisition, development, and installation of information systems. (servers, software, hardware, equipment, phone systems etc.)
  • Reviews all hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of other management team members as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains corporate policies and standards aimed at maximizing effectiveness and minimizing costs related to IT systems.
  • Develops and manages annual operating and capital budgets for information and technology systems.
  • Develops and enforces policy and procedures to ensure the protection of the company’s IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of information.
  • Oversees the linkage between external information systems (e.g. customers, vendors) and the company including systems for electronic data exchange and API’s.
  • Develops and maintains the systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software, and interconnection of transportation network information systems.
  • Vendor relationships and development (outsourced software/hardware/contracts)
  • Direct and manage the activities of the IT department employees.
  • Manages training and support to end users.
  • Develops and maintain system recovery and business continuity plans in the event of power failure, damage to system, etc.
  • Oversees the development, maintenance, and communication of systems and user documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Engages in customer meetings as needed.
  • Ability to create (Dashboards, Data Metrics, IT Guidance to Executive Team)
  • Computer literate (Office Suite, Power Point, Word, Excel, TMS Systems, SQL, BI Tools)
  • Education: 4-year Bachelor-s degree (i.e., IT, Computer Science or related discipline)
  • Residence: Lexington, KY
