Field Support Engineer:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Field Support Engineer to drive the delivery and support of Global Safety & Security Technology Platforms. The ideal candidate will excel in managing the lifecycle of Windows technologies, software deployment, and system patching for both PCs and servers. This role is a critical point of contact between service integrators and the company’s business users, ensuring the smooth operation of physical safety and security products across the globe.


Field Support Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line support to troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral issues for end-users.
  • Maintain product, service, software, process, and hardware lifecycles for both PC and servers.
  • Manage and deploy operating system engineering, software packaging, and patching for systems running Windows OS.
  • Proactively analyze data to predict and prevent issues, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Collaborate with peers, technical experts, and strategic partners to develop solutions that create strategic advantages for the organization.
  • Act as the single point of contact for day-to-day service requests and incident reporting.
  • Utilize Enterprise Service Management tools to process and manage incoming service requests, ensuring timely updates for stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison between service integrators and company business users.
  • Document and maintain system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
  • Represent Safety & Security efforts globally in planning, delivery, and support of technology functions.
  • Maintain a forward-looking mindset focused on automation and orchestration of service delivery processes.


Field Support Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology with a focus on Windows platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience with server administration (MCSE, MCP, etc.).
  • Experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Windows 10, desktop analytics, and PowerShell.
  • 3+ years of experience in desktop support and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of configuration management solutions on Windows operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and advanced operational support.
  • Experience in building, deploying, and monitoring production systems using observability tools.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, including group policy management, logon scripts, and admin templates.
  • Expertise in patch management for Windows, M365, and third-party applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and understand client-side Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Familiarity with Windows imaging across various hardware makes and models.
  • Strong analytical skills for performing root-cause analysis and resolving issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred:

  • PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Microsoft Certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCP) are a plus.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Program Increment (PI) planning is advantageous.
