Key Account Manager

Portland Products, a growing mid-Michigan supplier of metal stampings and assemblies is seeking an exceptional Key Account Manager. In this role you will be the face of Portland Products with our valued, long-term customers and will work to strengthen our relationships with them by providing relentless service. In addition, you will need to uncover opportunities to expand the product types we provide to them by exhibiting technical expertise in our core competencies of stamping and assembly. 

The best fit for this role will have the drive to increase profitable sales and grow. We are also looking for experience working with Tier 1 automotive suppliers, the ability to read drawings, and the skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and manufacturing processes.


Responsibilities:

·        Maintain and further develop customer relationships through reaching out to customers on a consistent basis in an effort to grow business

·        Identify opportunities for broadening Portland Products’ offerings with key customers 

·        Effectively understand and communicate our technical capabilities and value proposition in alignment with our vision

·        Coordinates and supports customer commercial negotiations, including quoting, LTA’s, value-pricing, lead-time, tooling, pricing changes, engineering changes, end of production timing and obsolescence costs

·        Owns the initial quoting process by receiving the client documentation, understanding the scope, and identifying missing information

·        Coordinate cross functional team in developing cost estimates for quote packages

·        Review the entire quote package for accuracy before being submitted to the customer

·        Submit quotations and follow up with customer purchasing and engineering departments on status, includes gathering critical input into RFQ

·        Deepen current customer relationships, expand new contacts and identify key decision makers/ stakeholders

·        Generate sales projections 

·        Identify opportunities that align with the company’s strategy and vision

·        Build upon existing systems to streamline quoting and sales process

·        Host customer visits and plant tours, deliver sales presentations and maintain a high level of communication to customers at all levels including purchasing, engineering, quality, etc.

·        Continue cultivation of Portland Products’ unique culture of Team member involvement, individual personal improvement, business success, and community support

·        Effectively communicate and implement actions to reach objectives

·        Work closely with other facets of the organization: Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, etc.


Requirements:

·        BA/BS in mechanical engineering, sales/marketing, business, or equivalent, along with 5+ years’ experience in technical customer contact, business development, or sales, with a proven track record of managing and expanding key accounts

·        Team player with proven positive leadership skills and experience

·        Ability to take on progressively higher levels of responsibility throughout career

·        Ability to implement short- and long-term business development plans

·        Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant tools

·        Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,

·        5+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with metal stamping and related assembly process knowledge, preferably in the automotive industry

·        Knowledge of and proven success in automotive industry customer interaction: Contract review, pricing, program launch, and long-term agreement negotiation

·        Willingness to travel as needed to engage with customers and attend industry events


Compensation is base plus commission
