Position: Artificial Intelligence Researcher

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Duration: Long Term


As a Research Engineer, you will apply your expertise in one or more of the following AI fields:

Inference of essential context from data

Sequential Decision Making and Recommendation

Generative AI

You will collaborate with experts in AI, computer science, robotics, social science, and business to develop AI and data analytics solutions for real vehicle prototypes.


You first challenge will be to architect the AI software behind a functional vehicle media platform prototype, including the application of user-activity and/or emotion modeling to experiences that are user-state aware.

Expected Achievements

  • Design and develop prototype solutions that integrate AI capabilities into future generations of the {vehicle, cloud, connected device} ecosystem
  • Engineer principled models and methods
  • Communicate progress effectively through presentations and reports, demonstrating business transformation potential
  • Contribute to patent applications and research publications

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience in AI development and deployment
  • Solid foundation in software engineering and data management best practices
  • Passion for research and development at the edge of human knowledge


Stand Out from the Crowd

  • Practical experience with AI frameworks and tools (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • Experience architecting AI solutions for user-activity recognition and/or modeling of mood and emotion.
  • Documented contribution to open-source software with high code-quality standards
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Collaboration and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team


Additional Notes

MS or equivalent in Computer Science, engineering, or related field

Prototyping is a big part of the work. Algorithms and experiences. One project is developing a new vehicle experience, data coming from the car, the sensors monitoring the inside of the cabin


Apply AI to data, develop algorithms from data based on making decisions


Generative AI – in some form is going to become dominant in the client experience

Existing members of team will begin to work on the architecture. There will mentorship from current team

MS degree and 2+ years of experience

Competent individual –Software Engineering is a part of this role; need to have hands on developing software involving AI


Generative AI is important

What is the goal for this person over the next several months – want a candidate to hit the ground running, there is a high-profile demo planned, candidate needs a drive for practical results. Would like to show that an algorithm actually runs on the vehicle.


If they have new ideas on how to work with the data, and prototyping them, that is their main objective.


Python is being used in current software tools, anyone that is highly competent in another language can pick up python quite easily. **If they only have C and Matlab, that is a red flag. They will not as easily pick up skills needed.
