Summary
The Direct Materials Requirements Planner is responsible for planning and procuring GMP direct materials for Vacaville manufacturing. This individual ensures a seamless E2E process for assigned products and material categories, ensuring a quality supply of direct materials from planning to execution. This role serves as a critical interface between Production Planning, Site Scheduling, Logistics, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers. The planner is responsible for balancing the site's operational capacity and requirements while working under the guidance of the Head of Planning. The role requires building and maintaining relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders, leading discussions, solving problems, and driving process improvements to meet or exceed performance targets.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Coordinate planning meetings with suppliers, review forecasts and capacity, and provide planning assumptions to Supply Planners.
Manage inventory, ensuring compliant material flow, efficient usage, and timely delivery; perform inventory analysis and handle allowances/write-offs.
Represent direct material aspects in forums, supplier meetings, and category teams, supporting initiatives like sourcing changes, savings, lead-time reductions, life cycle management, SKU rationalization, supply chain optimization, and waste reduction.
Collaborate with planners, schedulers, warehouse, procurement, QC, QA, and suppliers to address supply issues, ensuring timely material availability and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
Manage scheduling and planning for assigned materials based on forecasts, supplier capacity, and strategies; support procurement to adhere to contractual commitments and establish MOQ.
Handle order transactions (conversion, sales/purchase orders, changes, receiving, returns) with procurement support, and provide proactive updates if delivery lead times are not met.
Participate in site project implementations and engage in supply chain and cross-functional process improvements to achieve business goals, ensuring compliance with processes including Delegation of Authority.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
Ability to influence and negotiate win/win solutions within and across organizations.
Comprehensive understanding of Biotech/pharmaceutical industry standards, supply chain, and GMP manufacturing practices to address complex problems.

Understanding of Lean Production System (LPS) elements and methods.

Education & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Buying Planning, or Category Management in the pharmaceutical or other industry.
Bachelor’s degree in life science, business, industrial engineering, or equivalent required.
Six Sigma certification (green belt) is a plus.
Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
Project Management experience is a plus.
