Medical Billing Specialist

Overview of the Medical Billing Specialist:

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and processing medical claims, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided. You will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Medical Billing Specialist:

  • Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
  • Utilize ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems to ensure proper billing of services
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, and obtain pre-authorizations as needed
  • Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate payments and resolve discrepancies
  • Address patient billing inquiries, provide account information, and assist with payment arrangements
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, coding changes, and payer policies to ensure compliance.

Qualifications of the Medical Billing Specialist:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of medical coding, billing procedures, and insurance guidelines. Proficiency in billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in handling medical records and billing data.
