POSITION PURPOSE

The Engineering Manager leads and directs all manufacturing operations with overall responsibility for production and quality. This position manages the engineering teams.


POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the product development process.
  • Manage and qualify the supplier base to achieve the highest level of quality for incoming material.
  • Work with the Impact Team to provide input, ideas, and direction for meeting short- and long-term strategic planning and implementation goals.
  • Research, plan, negotiate, and approve capital equipment expenditures.
  • Manage and coordinate manufacturing software changes.
  • Oversee the implementation of lean manufacturing processes.
  • Manage and coordinate contracted manufacturing and engineering resources.
  • Oversee the product certification process to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate technical information to the Dealer Support Department on product implementations and product specifications.
  • Authorize expenditures for materials needed for the manufacturing and engineering staff.
  • Manage a corrective and preventive action program.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes and policies.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Visit jobsites to review product performance.
  • Review and approve design and manufacturing documentation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on engineering and manufacturing issues.
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical design.
  • Develop and review departmental budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage direct reports—interview, hire, train, and appraise performance.
  • Set and measure performance goals for the Engineering Departments.
  • Provide direction and leadership for the development


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of five years’ management experience in an manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Additional hours may be required beyond eight hours per day and weekends as required.
