Market Development Specialists are responsible for identifying and creating new qualified sales opportunities for Account Executives. The Specialist will become a trusted resource and develop relationships with prospects, acting as the initial point of contact. This role will be primarily focused on researching new opportunities and performing outreach through emails, calls, and social media. The right candidate will work well under pressure, think out-of-the-box, easily initiate relaxed but informative two-way phone conversations with prospects and be highly self-motivated. The right candidate will also understand how to assess a company’s needs and cater the outreach to each prospect specifically.


Responsibilities:

  1. Develop opportunities for the Business Development team from prospecting and through marketing-generated leads.
  2. Interact with prospects via telephone and email with high attention to detail. Develop and execute a strong prospecting plan of attack, including email and call scripts.
  3. Consistently achieve qualified opportunity quotas to ensure revenue objectives.
  4. Nurture new leads by educating and developing prospects until they are ready to speak with an Account Manager.
  5. Research and evaluate opportunities posted on various Government Contracting bid boards, identifying key individuals, researching and obtaining requirements, and determining if the opportunity is a good fit.
  6. Engage current Opus Suite users to expand awareness, educate, ask for referrals, identify new opportunities, and develop account intelligence.
  7. Disseminate opportunities to the appropriate Account Executive, educating them as necessary about the opportunity to ensure a successful hand-off.
  8. Ensure successful follow-through of the sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in Copper CRM.
  9. Assist Account Executives with business development tasks such as quote generation, technical paper abstract development and submission, and coordinating trade show/event registration and attendance.

  3. Research Skills: Strong ability to gather, assess, and synthesize information from various sources to inform problem-solving approaches.
  4. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate problems and solutions to stakeholders.
  5. Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with others, leveraging diverse perspectives to achieve effective solutions.
  6. Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and modify problem-solving approaches as needed.


Qualifications:

  1. 5 years of proven excellence in business development, inside sales, and/or sales strongly desired.
  2. Proven experience in roles that required significant problem-solving, such as project management, process improvement, or operations management.
  3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  4. 100% reliable and detail-oriented.
  5. Positive can-do attitude and tireless work ethic.
  6. Driven and self-sufficient.
  7. Must thrive in a startup environment with broad responsibilities, a dynamic pace, and lots of responsibility.
  8. Experience in the Defense industry would be a strong plus.
  9. Experience using Copper CRM or comparable CRM is strongly desired.
  10. Adept computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  11. Travel Required 50% of the time
  12. In-office requirement for 2 days per week when not on travel
  13. Salary base+ commission
