Job Title: Executive Manager of Power Supply
Employer: City of Denton, Denton Municipal Electric
Since 1905 Denton Municipal Electric (DME) has provided safe and reliable power to residents of the greater Denton area. DME is a community-owned, not-for-profit public power utility that serves 64,000 customers with 100% renewable energy.
Thanks to the industry-leading initiative, the Denton Renewable Resource Plan, adopted by the Denton City Council, DME has reached its goal of 100% renewable power while maintaining competitive and reliable rates.
DME provides affordable energy to all its customers because it provides revenue-neutral power, which means DME is driven only by the mission to serve its customers and the community, not to generate revenue. DME only charges for power that is purchased and the cost to deliver it to residents.
Keeping energy costs affordable helps provide long-term stability for the community, and that's what public power is all about. Here are some of the ways DME achieves affordability:
•Establishing rates using citizen-controlled boards that hold public meetings.
•Financing Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects and improvements with municipal revenue bonds that are exempt from federal income tax.

•Oversee management, reliable operation, and maintenance of the Denton Energy Center.
•Prepare the electric utility’s power supply budget including preparation of sensitivity cases and actual versus budget comparisons on a quarterly basis.
•Monitor PUCT and ERCOT market design/transmission activities and legislative bodies; manage DME’s participation in those processes, as directed.
