- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Stay abreast of changes in employment laws and regulations that affect the insurance industry and the brokerage sector, and proactively address any potential impacts on the organization.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to compliance standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors regarding HR compliance matters.
- Strategic HR Leadership:
- Lead the HR department in alignment with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute HR strategies that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including compliance, employee relations, and performance management.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential HR risks related to compliance and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Oversee the investigation and resolution of employee complaints and disputes to ensure fair and compliant practices.
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
- Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs on compliance, ethics, and other HR-related topics to ensure employees and managers understand their responsibilities.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and development to enhance employees' skills and knowledge in areas related to compliance and risk management.
- Recruitment and Talent Management:
- Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure they are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Implement effective talent management strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent within the brokerage.
- Employee Benefits and Compensation:
- Manage employee benefits programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversee compensation practices to ensure they are competitive and equitable while meeting regulatory requirements.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and documentation related to compliance, training, and employee relations.
- Prepare and present regular reports on HR compliance, risks, and other relevant metrics to senior management.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly as they pertain to the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of compliance and risk management practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with HRIS systems and other relevant technology.
