Human Resources Director

This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to the Rancho Cucamonga facility on a full-time basis.
The RoleGeneral Motors is seeking Human Resources (HR) and Labor Relations (LR) professionals to lead in the HR space. As a Personnel Director, you will be responsible for delivering HR and LR services at our Rancho Cucamonga Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA) site in California, which employs approximately 85 people.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily support on HR and LR activities
- Lead and direct HR and LR services to support General Motors' mission, culture, and objectives
- Work strategically with assigned functional business leaders to improve working relationships, build engagement, increase output, and attract and retain talent
- Manage site Safety related activities
- Partner with the Plant Manager to drive GM culture, promote positive employee experiences, and improve employee engagement
- Promote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreements
- Negotiate and implement local and national agreements
- Participate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activities
- Ensure adherence to the Grievance Procedure
- Provide HR leadership for the site, including talent planning, performance management, compensation planning, recruiting and selection, etc.
- Ensure compliance to policy and support investigations of employee concerns
- Manage hourly, contract, and salaried employment administration
- Facilitate training on HR policies, HR/LR procedures, and contractual agreements, including the UAW Local and National agreements
- Champion assigned Workplace Safety System Elements and administration of local safety-related items
- Support People Involvement and implementation of our Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
- Champion projects that support key HR & Center of Expertise (COE) objectives in function and country
- Partner with Site Leadership and People Leaders to drive GM culture, promote positive employee experiences, and improve employee engagement
- Participate in regular HRM and Talent Forum discussions with Site Leadership
- Partner with COE to ensure that local policies, procedures, legislations, collective agreements, and regulations are administered appropriately in accordance with country and functional direction
- Cascade company-wide communications and announcements
- Provide complex-wide communications on HR/LR initiatives, process changes, and improvements that impact all employees
- Ensure appropriate support to the business in regard Human Capital Plans implementation
- Support enterprise-initiatives, including Talent Spotting, Workplace of Choice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and compensation programs
- Support processes on employee life cycle from hire to exit
- Function as escalation point of contact for uncommon or exceptional employee issues
- Partner with Legal and Government to maintain in-depth knowledge of employment requirements related to management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Identify areas of opportunity for continuous improvement and partner with COEs to build effective working relationships and provide constructive field perspective to influence common processes and procedures
- Leadership Coaching: Identify individual leadership coaching needs and perform necessary coaching to Leaders
- Manage positive working relationship with union officials and adhere to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies and agreements concerning wages, hours, and working conditions, including investigating, answering, and settling grievances, problem-resolution, implementation of strategic initiatives, and lead in negotiations where required/applicable
- Support the facilitation of training to the workforce
- Support Global Manufacturing System Team on People Involvement pillar (GMS) and Workplace Safety System Implementation
