HDT Bio is an early-stage nucleic acid-based vaccine and therapeutics company. We are seeking an experienced research associate to work on our RNA manufacturing and quality control scientific team. A background in molecular biology, nucleic acid handling and sterile/RNase-free technique is required. The candidate’s know-how and critical thinking will help foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence in our team. This individual will make an immediate impact by contributing to ongoing efforts in developing nucleic acid-based vaccines and therapeutics for COVID-19, influenza, and other infectious diseases.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • RNA preparation, including in-vitro transcription of RNA, RNA capping, RNA purification, spin-column concentration, aliquoting and inventory management.
  • RNA quality control assays – gel electrophoresis/capillary gel electrophoresis, nanodrop, dsRNA ELISA/dot blot, 5’ capping efficiency, RT-qPCR, nanoorange, qubit.
  • Cloning of novel DNA plasmids, including designing primers for Gibson assembly of DNA, screening colonies, sequence verification and glycerol stock generation.
  • DNA preparation, including spin/gravity column purification, organic extractions, ethanol/isopropanol precipitation and resuspension.
  • DNA quality control assays – diagnostic restriction digest, PCR, gel electrophoresis, nanodrop, nanoorange, qubit
  • Preparation of sterile and RNase-free solutions
  • Maintain a clean and functional workspace
  • Maintain physical inventories and LIMs
  • Monitor and purchase supplies needed to perform daily tasks in coordination with co-workers.
  • Communicate regularly with management and supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with scientists in the team, performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain the highest standards of laboratory practice in line with policy, including the maintenance of an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Contribute freely to the team research environment in a manner conducive to the success of the research project as a whole.


Qualifications (Skills):

  • Proficiency in PCR, cloning, aseptic cell culture, DNase/RNase free technique and protein characterization such as SDS-PAGE/western blot is required.
  • A desire to contribute to an overall team effort and goals
  • Experience in genetics, immunology, virology, vaccinology or related research field is preferred but not necessary.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office programs.



Education/Experience:

  • 1+ year full-time laboratory experience with molecular biology technical experience is strictly required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology or related science field
