Responsibilities

  • Leads all dining room/event setup, service, and breakdown based on anticipated guest counts and
    event needs.
  • Able to lead the dining room team through all service types (a la carte, buffet, etc.).
  • Ensures dining room team members are always in proper and clean uniforms.
  • Directs pre-meal meetings with dining room team members; relays pertinent information such as
    menu changes, new resident additions, etc.
  • Is the face of New Perspective by greeting residents and guests as they enter the dining room.
  • Ensures the timeliness of order taking, food delivery process and dining room service execution in a
    manner most pleasing to residents.
  • Receives and resolves complaints concerning dining room service.
  • Maintains a high level of resident contact throughout dining room service hours.
  • Assists in service as needed and, when required, will be scheduled as server.
  • Minimizes labor costs by cutting servers and assuming the role of the server during slow periods.
  • Assists their manager with training and the supervision of dining room team.
  • Ensures that all dining room closing duties have been done correctly. In charge of post shift
    walkthrough to make sure the dining room is organized and duties have been completed.
  • Serves as liaison between the dining room and kitchen team.
  • Makes suggestions about improvements in dining room service procedures and layout.
  • Maintains an inventory of dining room items including silverware, coffee pots, water pitchers,
    glassware, flatware and table settings, salt and pepper holders, sugar bowls and linens, and ensures
    that they are properly stored and accounted for.
  • Utilizes software system to accurately charge residents accounts for meals.
  • Works with their manager to update, review and print weekly menu changes.
  • Help maintain costs and sales goals monthly by controlling inventory and creating fresh ideas to boost
    revenue.
  • May serve as Culinary Services department opening and closing manager.
  • Maintains an environment within the community that is free from hazards.
  • Practices and adheres to standard precautions.
  • Observes and practices emergency procedures related to elopement, fire, and potential disasters.
  • Understands and implements best practices for enlisting emergency response services.
  • Adheres to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) policies and procedures, to include securing behind locked doors
    or cabinets all chemicals when not in use and following applicable instructions for use

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a server role preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in adhering to service standards
  • Certification for position as required by state regulations, such as ServSafe certification exam
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using the English language
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Physically and emotionally able to provide care to residents, including lifting, assisting with balance and
    positioning, reaching and supporting residents to protect them from injuring themselves or team
    member.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • While performing the duties of the role, the team member will perform activities that will require
    regular lifting of objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Role requires the ability to perform up and down movement including stoop, bend, reach and grab
    with arms and hands, manual dexterity, reaching above and below shoulder height, standing up to two
    or more hours at a time, sufficient auditory and visual acuity to interact with and/or assist and care for
    others.
  • While performing the duties of this role, team member may encounter incidents in which residents
    with cognitive impairment exhibit aggressive behaviors that could expose the team member to
    physical harm.
