Position Overview: As a Materials Manager, you will be responsible for the master scheduling, production planning, warehousing, inventory management, and the distribution of all materials required for the manufacturing of our aerial lifts and other products. The role ensures that materials are available to meet our production schedules efficiently. The Materials Manager will have full ownership of the materials when they arrive to our facilities and continue that ownership until our aerial lifts are manufactured, assembled, and shipped to our customers.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Inventory Control

 

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production demands without overstocking.
  • Implement inventory management systems to track and manage materials.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.

 

Material Planning

 

  • Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast material needs.
  • Create and manage material requirements planning (MRP) processes.
  • Ensure that materials are ordered and delivered according to production schedules.

 

Logistics and Distribution

 

  • Oversee the storage and distribution of materials within the organization.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely and efficient material delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in material handling.

  

Team Leadership

 

  • Lead and manage a team of warehouse management, shipping/receiving supervisors, material planners, and inventory controllers.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in the materials management processes.

 

Reporting and Analysis

 

  • Prepare and present reports on material status, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
  • Analyze material usage data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Use data to support decision-making in procurement and inventory management.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management software and ERP/MRP systems. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements related to materials handling.

 

Skills:

 

  • Analytical Skills - ability to analyze material needs, inventory levels, and supplier performance to make informed decisions.
  • Leadership - strong leadership qualities to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Communication - excellent communication skills to coordinate with suppliers, production teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills - ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
