Waco, Texas, United States Howmet Corporation Full time
Position Overview:

Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking a Materials Technician III for our Blind Products Department. This role involves executing advanced materials tasks that ensure the seamless flow of materials throughout our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of enterprise systems relevant to this specialization, identify issues, ascertain root causes, and implement necessary corrective measures to maintain high inventory accuracy. Additionally, the role requires operating various powered material handling equipment and performing manual tasks, while also providing guidance to junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze work order specifications to align quantities and heat lots for efficient component testing and assembly.
  • Manage assembly machine queues based on inspection priorities and customer demand, while coordinating with the Scheduler.
  • Collaborate with fellow Material Handlers to ensure the timely and accurate transportation of work-in-process parts across manufacturing stages.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts to uphold inventory precision, utilizing hand-counts and weight-counts as necessary to verify quantities and adjust system records accordingly.
  • Ensure proper disposition of rejected materials to prevent their re-entry into manufacturing workflows.
  • Evaluate remaining components post-assembly to determine their appropriate handling—whether returning to stock, redirecting to other operations, or disposal.
  • Organize the component storage area for optimal inventory management, ensuring rapid access, clear identification, and protection from damage.
  • Set priorities for processing rework orders, including heat treating, plating, lubrication, testing, and inspection.
  • Generate product labels as required and coordinate the transfer of finished goods to packaging, completing necessary system transactions.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order, performing routine checks on oil, water, fuel, and other essential fluids.
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and performing standard mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or walk-behind lift, alongside performing manual tasks with moderate physical demands.
  • Eagerness to learn new computer-based systems for transaction processing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective teamwork.
  • Highly organized with the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Competence in operating a computer, with familiarity in Excel.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required, with verification of employment eligibility at the time of hire.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), necessitating U.S. person status.
Benefits:
