The engineer will work closely with traders, developers, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and implement enhancements. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the production trading environment, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of trading systems.
- Rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues that impact trading operations, minimizing downtime and risk.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to identify and implement improvements to trading systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate routine tasks, reduce manual intervention, and increase efficiency.
- Install, configure, and manage trading applications on both desktop and server environments.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively during incident management, providing timely updates to stakeholders and ensuring a swift resolution.
- Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of trading systems, processes, and support procedures.
- Ensure that all trading activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
- Provide on-call support as needed, including after hours and weekends, to address critical issues and ensure 24/7 operational coverage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a trade support, production support, or similar role ideally within a financial services firm
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments (e.g., RedHat, Ubuntu).
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, Perl) for automation and process improvement.
- Experience with databases (SQL) and understanding of database structures.
- Familiarity with network protocols and infrastructure (TCP/IP, multicast, etc.).
