Location: Roanoke, VA, 1936 Blue Hills Drive, Office Park. Must be willing to relocate to Roanoke, VA, full relocation package and competitive salary offered.


Position Overview:

Virginia Transformer Corporate is seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Director with a focus on Training and Development, Corporate Employee Relations, Compliance, Safety, Retention, and Talent Management. This role will be instrumental in overseeing the development, implementation, and management of training programs, safety initiatives, and employee relations strategies to enhance employee skills, improve engagement, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote a safe and positive workplace environment. A background in manufacturing is preferred to better understand the unique challenges and dynamics of the industry.


Key Responsibilities:


Training and Development:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs that align with the company’s strategic goals and employee development needs.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and design targeted training initiatives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through metrics and feedback, making continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure training programs support operational objectives and manufacturing-specific skills.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in training and development.


Corporate Employee Relations:

  • Develop and implement employee relations policies and procedures that foster a positive workplace culture and adhere to labor laws.
  • Manage conflict resolution processes, ensuring fair and consistent handling of employee concerns and grievances.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, harassment, and discrimination cases, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Foster open communication between employees and management to address workplace issues proactively.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations issues and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements affecting employee relations.


Compliance and Safety:

  • Lead initiatives to ensure the company meets all compliance requirements related to labor laws, safety regulations, and other relevant standards.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs and ensure adherence to safety protocols throughout the company.
  • Monitor workplace conditions, assess risks, and work with teams to improve safety standards across all locations, with an emphasis on manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with leadership to address safety concerns and develop strategies for continuous improvement in workplace safety.


Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team to achieve departmental goals and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives, focusing on compliance, safety, and talent management.
  • Establish clear HR processes and goals that align with corporate objectives and ensure efficient HR operations.
  • Develop and manage the HR budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of HR services and resources for training, safety, and compliance programs.
  • Report regularly to senior management on HR metrics, including training outcomes, safety compliance, employee relations activities, and retention rates.


Employee Engagement, Retention, and Talent Management:

  • Design and implement programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, with a specific focus on reducing turnover in the manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct regular employee surveys to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement initiatives that promote retention.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace culture that values and respects all employees.
  • Oversee talent management strategies that ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent, including succession planning, career development programs, and leadership training.


Qualifications:


Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.


Certifications:

  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification is highly desirable.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on training and development, employee relations, compliance, safety, and talent management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an HR Director role is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.


Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, safety regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful training programs, safety initiatives, and employee relations strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage multiple projects, and work effectively with senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
