Position Summary: Under the direction of the Senior Product Manager, the incumbent of this position will design and manage the development of several collections of ophthalmic frames and sunglasses.


This role is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. All work takes place onsite.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of several ophthalmic/ sun frame collections. 30 new styles (90+ skus) per collection each year (multiple brands).
  • Design and develop products from scratch meeting the brand objectives set forth by the licensor and the market needs
  • Primary sourcing contact with suppliers
  • Pricing of new models
  • Initial forecast of new models
  • Potential travel to Asia/Europe 1-2X per year (post-covid)
  • Develop new product release calendar and manage on-time execution
  • Analyze sales results
  • Manage overall collection size/sku count
  • Interface effectively w/ marketing to deliver on-message product for each brand
  • Data entry and maintenance for models to purchase
  • Develop Product Training documents as needed for key accounts and/or sales team
  • Strong sales of product
  • Well- fitting and functioning product--quality standards maintained
  • Profitable product--margin maintenance
  • Commercially reasonable, trend-right, brand appropriate, competitively priced product
  • Timely and efficient product development including vendor management
  • Positive licensor relationship
  • Trade Show Set Up—ability to lift 30# boxes


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 1-2 years previous accessories product development (optical/eyewear experience preferred)
  • Sourcing experience in China, Japan, Korea and Europe
  • Elevated taste level
  • Experience with better/premium level product
  • Experience developing a concept from scratch, including the design of the product
  • Ability to draw accessories in Illustrator
  • Technical understanding of CAD drawings including an ability to understand 3-D objects in a 2-D format (akin to engineering)
  • Efficient organizational systems and discipline in using them: work- flow tracking, timeline management, project details
  • Ability to carefully review product for quality and accurately identify and detail needed changes to a vendor
  • Precise and accurate written communication skills
  • Positive attitude with an ability to flex daily priorities without becoming overwhelmed
  • Strong people skills to foster good internal and external relationships
  • Strong negotiating skills and understanding of the relationship of price and product

Base Salary: $50,000


Hours of Work: The hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The employee is expected to work in the office in order to effectively collaborate with the brand team.


FLSA Status: Exempt
