The HIM Indexing & Quality Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient information by accurate and timely indexing/scanning documents into the electronic health records and performs quality checks to ensure documents are being scanned accurately. Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Weekend and Holiday rotation
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, reviews medical records to ensure that records are complete, and all appropriate documentation is present.
- Reviews and processes request for information, scans documents accurately into EHR, assist internal and external customers and understands State/Federal laws pertaining to confidentiality and releasing protected health information.
- Responsible for processing requests for information and maintaining confidentiality by adhering to state/federal laws and health system policies.
- Performs a variety of duties for the Health Information Management Department to ensure records are complete and all appropriate documentation is present.
Education/Experience:
- High School or GED, College Degree
- AHIMA credentials RHIA/RHIT preferred
- Experience with Scanning preferred
- Experience with Release of Information preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe) preferred
Skills:
- Effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team setting with internal and external constituents.
- Strong attention to detail and quality, exceptional organizations and time management skills are essential to the success of this role.
