Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer specializing in Bearings & Seals. This role is pivotal in the design and analysis of bearings, seals, and sumps in gas turbine engines, encompassing structural stress and thermal analysis.


What you will be doing:

Design & Modeling: Model bearings, seals, and sumps using industry-leading analytical tools. Support finite element analysis (FEA) and apply knowledge using ANSYS Workbench and associated tools. This includes performing static, dynamic vibration, shock, plasticity, interference, thermal, contact, and fatigue analysis.


Component Analysis: Assist with the design, analysis, and evaluation of turbomachinery components and assemblies using sound engineering principles while adhering to industry standards and program requirements. Evaluate the effects of the overall system (maneuvers, dynamic modes, limit load cases, etc.) on components and assemblies.


Test Programs: Contribute to engine system or component test programs from a hardware design and overall system perspective. Conduct operational testing, develop test plans including instrumentation, data acquisition, and signal processing. Provide presentations and recommendations based on test results.


Team Collaboration: Be an integral part of a diverse system design team. Ensure products and sub-systems meet overall design requirements.


Design Reviews & Coordination: Participate in design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines such as design, performance and secondary systems, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials, and system analysis.


Communication: Provide timely updates on significant issues or developments.


Technology Development: Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies related to additive design. Advise on ways to enhance product design through the use of additive manufacturing.


Individual Contribution & Leadership: Initially function as an individual contributor in a dynamic, self-directed start-up environment. As the organization grows, take on responsibilities for scaling design capabilities to support additional projects, including future team leadership. Developing leadership capabilities with the role is essential.


Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of technical data, following engineering best practices.


Problem Solving: Use engineering judgment to balance complex and conflicting program requirements, proposing solutions to optimize overall product performance.


Supplier Collaboration: Work with suppliers to procure hardware and resolve producibility and quality issues.


What you will need to be successful:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.

Experience: At least 8 – 10 years of experience in gas turbine component design.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of design software tools (CAD, ANSYS, etc.).
