Summary

The Sr. Manager of Public and Community Relations will be responsible for driving positive brand outcomes for the Company through a variety of functional responsibilities including events, sponsorships and community relations. The job will complement the Company’s global communications and brand activities across all internal and external audiences. The person in this position will take a primary role in developing, planning and executing brand-marketing opportunities through a variety of activities, including corporate events, sponsorships, and promotions, and other proactive community relations activities. They will also help identify and support proactive and reactive public relations activities, including media engagement, in support of Simplot’s global business interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and/or organize, coordinate and host external and internal events, conferences and special occasions, from planning to closure.
  • Oversee or contribute to the Company’s involvement in major events such as the Simplot Games, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Free Fry Day and other important Company owned or sponsored activities.
  • Coordinate and update Company sponsorships, including budget, calendar and process.
  • Work with partners to consolidate and coordinate regional public relations activities with the broader marketing and public relations activities across business groups and the global Company footprint.
  • Oversee conceptualization and execution of materials to ensure proper representation of the organization and brand at events and promotional opportunities. This includes the development of promotional items, liaising with suppliers and overseeing costs.
  • Develop promotional or branded approaches for selected functions including working with photographers, audio-visual specialists, marketing teams and other communications team members.
  • Ensure employees who represent the Company to external audiences, large customers and partners have the training and material needed to effectively represent not only their area, but the broader organization.
  • Help identify and secure opportunities that will reinforce and support the Company’s desired positioning and increase the Company’s visibility.
  • Support the design, development and placement of promotional sponsorship advertising, ensuring it is consistent with the image and positioning plan of the Company.
  • Identify and manage proactive media interactions.
  • Work with various business groups to generate and maintain detailed media lists.
  • Support team in responses to media inquiries and media monitoring.
  • Facilitate ongoing media monitoring and reporting across the industries and markets where Simplot is active.
  • Assist the Communications and Brand team, and business marketing departments in a wide range of initiatives to build brand awareness (locally, nationally and globally).
Typical Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Public or Community Relations management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with traditional and new media on a local, national, and international basis
  • Experience with corporate sponsor relations strongly preferred
  • Event planning experience
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
