Systems Engineer

Provide Windows and Linux Server administration as a member of the CBTS team. Execute procedures for break/fix repair, change requests, and scheduled maintenance. Responsible for assisting in the implementation and support of virtualized servers both on-prem & cloud. Responsible for customer server and procedure documentation.
Essential Functions
- Write, and maintain systems documentation. Work with team lead to develop procedures and guidelines for implementation and management of Windows Server infrastructure.
- Provide day to day Server administration on virtualized servers through ITIL defined processes.
- Respond to phone calls & incident tickets.
- Analyze and respond to server outages or performance-impacting events.
- Create/update/complete trouble tickets; update and follow up on outstanding tickets and perform escalation to Lead Specialists for additional assistance
- Assist in project & migration efforts
- Server analysis, vulnerability assessment and patch management.
- Management of the virtualization infrastructure.
Education:
Two years of College resulting in an Associate’s degree or equivalent.
Experience / Background:
3 to 5 years
Accreditation / Certification / Licenses
Current Microsoft MCSE Certification
VMware Certifications preferred
ITIL foundations certification preferred
Working understanding of Cisco Networking a plus
RedHat, Suse or Canonical certifications a plus
Working understanding of OpenShift or Docker containerization is a plus
Previous Job Experience:
Working with network troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, and dig
General understanding of IP subnetting, including variable length subnet masks
Hands on experience with Windows and Linux
Understanding of backup technologies
Hands on experience with SAN storage
Hands on experience with VMware, OpenStack, KVM or other virtualization technologies
Hands on experience with V2V and P2V migration tools and processes
Customer focused interpersonal skills in a support environment
General Technical skills -- includes product knowledge, business acumen and competitive knowledge. Continually grow technical capability and increase market and competitive intelligence.
- May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects.
- May require sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
- May require identifying and distinguishing colors
- May require working in confined and dark areas for any periods of time

Special consideration given to the ability to write Python scripts and use automation to perform tasks
This role may require an on-call technical escalation rotation
