Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead in mechanical design for an integration project.
  • Create installation drawings using NX software.
  • Develop top-level assembly models in NX.
  • Design new detailed components and subassemblies.
  • Generate design options to meet new customer requirements and oversee the entire process from purchasing to testing and operations.
  • Conduct and participate in internal design reviews.
  • Act as the technical focal point in customer meetings.
  • Publish parts lists.
  • Review and provide feedback on models and drawings.
  • Devise design solutions for change requests.
  • Update the weight matrix for assigned programs.
  • Understand new customer requirements and identify appropriate approaches to fulfill them.
  • Collaborate with the integrated product team, which includes electrical engineers, stress engineers, flammability engineers, purchasing, operations, and program management.
  • Provide support to manufacturing, operations, and testing as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Five to seven years of related experience and/or training in integration/interiors, or an equivalent combination of education and product design experience.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, demonstrated by managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with commercial aircraft monuments or other interior product installations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.
  • Ability to conduct research and investigate design solutions independently.
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling and drafting, preferably using NX, but experience with Catia, Solidworks, or other similar systems will also be acceptable.
  • Ability to interpret 2D drawings, including a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and perform tolerance stackups.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proficiency in NX (formerly Unigraphics) and Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Experience with interior installation/reconfigurations (integration) for and Airbus programs is highly desired.
  • Ability to interact with high-level internal and external management.
  • Effective in delivering clear and concise customer presentations.
  • Experience with kaizen workshops or other lean activities.
  • Experience with updating or creating standard work and processes.
  • Strong engineering skills, including mechanisms, kinematics, kinetics, free body diagrams, and understanding stress distribution in designs.
