Job Summary: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for assisting all aspects of payroll processing and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position will also be responsible for muti-state and muti-entity payroll journal entries and reconciliations. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of accurate payroll records and reports.
- Verify and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping, benefits, and deductions.
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure employee records are up-to-date and accurate.
- Assist in payroll tax filings and payments.
- Assist with audits by providing payroll information and documentation as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and ensure company compliance.
- Assist in month-end closing and financial reporting processes.
- In charge of all payroll journal entries and reconciliations for multiple entities and multiple business units.
- Perform all other payroll related and accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ADP experience highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
