Position Summary

The HR Director will lead and oversee the Company's day-to-day HR functions and is responsible for engaging with employees and leaders at critical moments in the employee life cycle to ensure an equitable, inclusive, and respectful experience for all employees consistent with Company policies, values, and culture. The HR Director actively participates in developing, executing, coordinating and/or communicating human resource initiatives in employee relations to address employee grievances, conflicts, separation, investigations, performance management, HR compliance, risk management, leave administration, policy and procedure interpretation and other HR functions as requested. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a proactive problem solver, and a strong leader who can effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.


Roles and Responsibilities

· Provide leadership and expertise for the full scope of Human Resource (HR) functions including all aspects of professional and production employee relations, compensation, employee engagement, technical and leadership training, and communication to a diverse client group.

· Perform a leadership role in recruiting and selection of talent, drive process improvement to ensure staffing levels continuously support customer demand; creatively source new and diverse talent for our growing organization.

· Lead annual Performance Review process, including on-going, regular coaching and salary planning for professional staff, support managers by providing tools, coaching on delivering feedback and creation of individual development plans.

· Provide counsel in the design and implementation of compensation and recognition programs; owns local employee benefits communication, open enrollment efforts and engagement events/activities.

· Ensure good employee relations, clear policies and procedures are identified and followed per the CBA (collective bargaining agreement); conduct efficient investigations, administer the grievance procedure timely, work with internal and external counsel on contract negotiation and interpretation.

· Maintain a high level of understanding of State / Federal laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, employee/labor relations, and human resources for company locations.

· Responsible for the preparation of EEO-1 reports, org charts, labor agreements, employee handbooks, as well as documentation required for contract negotiation meetings.


Required Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in Human Resources Administration, Labor Relations, Organizational Development or similar field or equivalent in education and experience.

· At least 10 years’ experience in Human Resources with increasing responsibility.

· Thorough knowledge of human resources disciplines including performance management; learning & development; organizational development; employee and labor relations; compensation & benefits; diversity, equity, and inclusion; employee engagement; and vendor management.

· Knowledge of Local, State and Federal labor laws and government requirements.

· Prior experience in employee/labor relations, serving as an HR Manager in a unionized environment with experience in contract administration, arbitration, EEO / AAP compliance, and litigation.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

· Proficiency using HRIS tools, processes, and software.

· Knowledge and experience with negotiations of Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Desired Competencies

· Master's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial / Labor Relations, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.

· Previous leadership experience, comfortable leading a team, setting clear goals and objectives and coaching direct staff in a matrixed environment.

· Approachable and responsive person, able to connect with employees at all levels, desires employee-facing work in a manufacturing environment.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate well with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.

· Display a professional, yet personable demeanor.

· Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong emotional intelligence quotient and exceptional customer service and communication skills.

· Supportive team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment; ability to diffuse a tense situation and coach/develop leaders and peers.

· Applies solid judgment ensuring integrity, compliance, confidentiality, detailed-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
