About Us:

The client's manufacturing-on-demand initiative is seeking a highly motivated CAD Technician experienced in CNC fabrication to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with CAD programming and operation experience to kick-start their career in the manufacturing industry.


Role Overview:

As a CAD Technician at the client, you will play a crucial role in the production process by operating and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-precision components. You will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and receive on-the-job training to further develop your skills and expertise.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Set up, load, and operate CNC machines according to job specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate machining.
  • Write and modify CNC programs using G-code or CAM software.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect and address any issues or deviations.
  • Conduct quality checks and measurements to ensure parts meet required specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and digital file archive.
  • Collaborate with the team to keep machine templates up to date.


Must-Haves:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of CNC machine operation and programming experience is preferred (either industry or technical college experience is acceptable).
  • Strong knowledge of G-code and CAM software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to set up fixturing using standard fixture hardware and design custom fixtures.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced machinists.
  • Top 3 Must-Have Hard Skills:
  1. 5 years of CNC machine operation and programming experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of G-code and CAM software.
  3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Team-oriented with good interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable and willing to take on new challenges.


Nice to Haves:

  • Certifications in CNC programming or related fields.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
