The Logistics Manager will act as a supervisor by overseeing the entire supply chain purchasing

and distribution process. They take and manage the inventory of products stored within the

warehouse. They will collaborate closely with product suppliers and clients to build strong and

long-lasting relationships. The Logistics Manager will typically handle the entire delivery process

of products by scheduling both inbound and outbound shipments and constantly monitoring

them to make sure each product arrives on time.

Essential Functions

● Coordinate all inbound and outbound international freight

● Communicate effectively with Customs and Customs brokers

● Troubleshoot any issues with shipping or Customs documentation including, but not

limited to commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and sustainable

certifications (as relevant)

● Create and maintain contact with vendors and customers to ensure timely shipment and

delivery of goods

● Interact with third-party logistics service providers such as warehouses, Customs

brokers, transportation companies, steamship lines, etc.

● Audit freight cost and documentation, including 7501

● Ensure accuracy of shipping documentation

● Ensure all invoices from suppliers are received, reviewed, and processed in a timely

fashion

● Review and approve contract-related invoices for processing by Accounting

● Monitor and coordinate import ocean containers, troubleshoot problem shipments,

formulate solutions, and notify the appropriate parties

● Recommend and implement processes and concepts to improve efficiencies and cost

savings


● Supervise inbound and outbound logistics staff

● Reconcile monthly physical inventory

● Coordinate and reconcile annual inventory audits

● Establish and maintain strong cross-departmental communication and collaboration

● Ad hoc shipment support and Ad hoc reporting related to tracking performance and

forecasting

Competencies

● Knowledge of geopolitical atmosphere, current events, and understanding of trade

programs

● Proficiency with ERP systems (or integrated trading and accounting systems)

● Strong analytical skills with intermediate MS Excel proficiency

● Strong written and oral communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage, supervise, and review direct report activities. Identifies and sets key performance

objectives for direct reports and manages those objectives. Performance objectives will include

financial, customer, internal operations, and employee development targets. Assess

performance objectives at year-end reviews.

Required Education and Experience

● A minimum of 5 years in international logistics, preferably in a food-related industry

● Experience with international trade logistics

● Experience with FDA and U.S. Customs

● Experience with regulatory compliance (FDA, CBP, C-TPAT, etc.) and advanced

understanding

● Experience in all modes of transportation (ocean, intermodal, air)

● Experience with sustainable certifications (organic, Rainforest Alliance, Fair Trade, etc.)
