The studio is seeking a self-initiating, sharp, motivated Director of Development to work directly with the Partner & Creative Director. The position requires an individual capable of overseeing all aspects of business and general studio operations, on both a micro and macro level. The Director of Development oversees all new business development, strategic, operational, HR, legal, and support functions of a full-service design studio. The Director of Development plays a critical role in all operational and strategic decisions, and therefore must have impeccable attention to detail and strong business planning capabilities. An ideal candidate has experience working in a leadership position within a creative studio, hospitality group, and/or real estate marketing agency.



Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of business operations for a full-service design studio
  • Manage all business development, responding to new business inquiries, RFP’s, and identifying new business opportunities alongside Partner & Creative Director
  • Create and fosters relationships with prospective, new, and existing clients
  • Draft, submit, and negotiate proposals and client contracts
  • Actively manage the scope of work for each project, serving as client liaison regarding all scope requests
  • Serve as the primary resource for all contractual terms for each project, both internally and externally
  • Serve as liaison for all legal, accounting, insurance, and operational matters, working directly with external legal counsel, bookkeeper, accountant, and insurance broker
  • Manage all hiring, employee on-boarding, HR compliance, employee benefits, etc., and serve as primary HR contact for all staff 



Qualifications Standards:

  • 4-6 years of experience managing a business in the creative or design industry
  • Bachelor's Degree, Business/Financial field preferred
  • Experience with project bidding and RFP processes 
  • Experience drafting and negotiating proposals and business contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with job tracking, account systems & financial applications (QuickBooks, Excel, Numbers)
  • Extensive experience with billing and invoicing, financial forecasts, and budgeting
  • Familiar with creative and production processes
  • An understanding of employee benefits and PEOs
  • Superior skills of diplomacy
  • Remarkable interpersonal skills, personable, and approachable
  • A nuanced understanding of creative personalities
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Project Management Software, or similar.
