We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to join our fast-paced team in the mortgage industry. This role is critical in ensuring that our operations are compliant with federal and state regulations, and industry best practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our compliance program, including lending, TRID, Residential Mortgage, Direct Endorsement, Refinance, Loan Closing, Appraisal, Conventional Mortgage Loans, Fannie Mae, Fixed Rate (FRM) Mortgages, and Freddie Mac.

Responsibilities

As a Permanent Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Ensuring all lending activities and operations are in compliance with federal and state regulations, including TRID, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.
2. Reviewing and approving loan closing documents, ensuring all aspects meet regulatory standards.
3. Conducting regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
4. Developing and implementing corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and providing general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
5. Keeping abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
6. Preparing reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
7. Working closely with the loan operations team to ensure smooth and compliant loan closings, appraisals, and refinances.
8. Providing training and guidance to the team on compliance matters.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mortgage industry, with a specific focus on compliance.
2. Proven experience with lending, TRID, Residential Mortgage, Direct Endorsement, Refinance, Loan Closing, Appraisal, Conventional Mortgage Loans, Fannie Mae, Fixed Rate (FRM) Mortgages, and Freddie Mac.
3. Strong understanding of federal and state regulations related to mortgage lending.
4. Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
5. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
8. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
