 What you’ll be doing

As Shipping Point Inspector 1, you will provide traditional shipping point inspections and certification of

nuts, fresh fruits and vegetables. This includes sampling and inspection of sample; records note and writes certificates of grade or inspection reports with all pertinent information on the kind of product, variety, brand, manifest, car or truck numbers, container size and type, etc.

The Shipping Point Inspector 1 is a seasonal part - time position, located in Hood River, Oregon.

Working conditions

  • Works with industry members in inspection program related issues. Works with company owners and managers, which requires a high level of professionalism including appropriate attire, like that as worn by these contacts.

  • Other conditions: working long hours as needed; occasionally working with industry members in matters relating to contentious issues works regularly in field conditions with exposure to weather.

  • Working long hours as dictated by workload (seasonally), travel required at various times for one to two weeks at a time, regular lifting of objects 50-60 lbs. This position frequently works weekends, holidays, evening, and split shifts.

What we’re looking for:

  • One season of experience as a shipping point inspector aide

  • The Shipping Point Inspector 1 may not be a year-around position and works as work is available.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

OR

  • One year of experience in a commercial fruit or vegetable growing, grading, or marketing enterprise.

Must have a valid driver's license, and a good driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate method of transportation.
