The Senior Policy Officer is part of the Fire and Emergency Management Policy branch, within the Policy and Planning division in DEECA's Bushfire and Forest Services group. The Fire and Emergency Management Policy branch is responsible for the provision of DEECA's bushfire management policy and strategy, and legislative and regulatory reform. The branch is also responsible for leading emergency management policy, advice and governance, with a coordination role across DEECA, that takes an all-hazards, all-emergencies approach.

The Senior Policy Officer will work collaboratively across the division, with key partners within and externally to DEECA. The position will help ensure there is an effective framework in place to manage bushfire risk and protect the multiple values of state forests, contributing to the integration of fire and forest policy and delivering whole-of-government outcomes.

In this role, you will build relationships and use influence to further policy objectives. The position requires strong policy and critical thinking skills, contextual awareness to navigate a dynamic environment, in addition to project management skills, to ensure advice is timely and well-targeted and initiatives are delivered successfully.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, law, natural resource or environmental management or similar is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available 9 May 2025. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
