Job Overview
The Associate, Brand Strategy plays a key role in developing and executing Macy‘s marketing campaigns. They work closely with the Brand Strategy Director to develop effective campaign strategies, manage creative partnerships, and ensure all initiatives align with Macy‘s brand identity. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a passion for understanding consumer behavior.
What You Will Do
- Ensure adherence to brand guidelines across all marketing materials and communications.
- Lead the planning and execution of creative briefs and marketing plan tactical support, including:
- Partnering with the customer team to understand customer needs and behaviors, using these insights to develop compelling briefs and marketing plans.
- Collaborating with trend forecasting and editorial content teams to incorporate key seasonal trends and priorities into briefs.
- Communicating marketing brief details and deliverables to cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration across digital and in-store channels for campaign cohesiveness.
- Reviewing all concepts to ensure alignment with campaign objectives and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Leading the postmortem process to capture key successes and identify opportunities for future campaigns.
- Stay updated on market trends and competitor insights to inform strategy.
- Work closely with creative teams, providing clear direction and inspiring them to develop innovative ideas.
- Foster a collaborative environment where marketing, creative, and merchandising teams work seamlessly to execute the strategic vision.
- Collaborate effectively with external agency partners to ensure a smooth relationship and deliver exceptional results.
Skills You Will Need
Marketing Principles: Understanding of fundamental marketing concepts, strategies, and practices relevant to developing effective marketing campaigns and brand strategies.
Consumer Behavior: Insight into how consumers make purchasing decisions, including their preferences, motivations, and behaviors that influence buying patterns.
Brand Strategy Development: Ability to create and implement strategies that establish and enhance a brand‘s identity, positioning, and value proposition in the market.
Retail Landscape: Knowledge of the retail industry, including market trends, competitive dynamics, and consumer trends that impact retail operations and marketing strategies.
Problem Solving: Capability to identify issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement effective strategies to resolve challenges and achieve desired outcomes.
Project Management: Skills in planning, organizing, and overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and successful execution while managing resources and deadlines.
Influential Communication: Proficiency in clearly and persuasively conveying information, presenting ideas, and engaging with stakeholders to foster understanding and collaboration.
Detail Orientation: Attention to small but critical elements of tasks and projects to ensure accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with various teams and partners, facilitating cooperation and coordination to achieve common goals.
Industry Trends: Awareness of current and emerging trends within the industry that influence strategic decision-making and marketing approaches.

- Candidates with a bachelor‘s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 5-7 years of experience in developing and executing marketing plans.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
