Encon Safety Products, Inc., located in Houston, Texas, started manufacturing operations in 1964. Located in the heart of the U.S. Gulf Coast petrochemical industry, Encon developed its emergency and safety products manufacturing business with a focus on solving problems for hazardous-area applications. Since our inception, Encon has designed and manufactured market-leading personal protective equipment and hazardous-area storage cases for the protection and security of people, plant and equipment. Coined from the words Environmental Controls, Encon Safety Products today operates in two manufacturing locations to serve our customer base worldwide.
Position Summary:
This is a Company Leadership position in which the associate Basic Purpose is to be responsible for emergency shower and eyewash (ESEW) product management, price setting, profitability and gross margin performance. The associate is also responsible for product line direction, new product development and finalization of sales forecasting as well as to support related marketing activity promoting the sales of the product. The Manager is responsible to assist in developing strategic supplier and customer partnerships to enhance Encon‘s market position.

Under the direction and with approval of the General Manager to be responsible for the following:
- Development of the annual ESEW (‘product‘) department business plan, to include a sales forecast and a suggested expense budget submittal.
- Manage the price and gross margin of the ESEW/Safety product line. Responsible for cost analysis, reporting and acting on cost and price trends on all expense areas associated with the ESEW/Safety product offered for sale.
- Lead a new Product Development (NPD) team to include sales, marketing and engineering associates and manage the creation, review and updates of all ESEW product specifications.
- Be an active participant on the Marketing Team for the web site and E-Marketing development, activity, support and maintenance.
- Complete direct communication with the Encon regional sales team, the Customer Service department and the Leadership team on all aspects of the product development and sales growth.
- Required participation at every major trade show event designated by the General Manager.
- Provide participation and support at local shows for, or with, the Regional Sales Managers.
- Actively participate in the use of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to provide to management the required input for effort completed, results obtained and for information flow on product sales.
- Serve as an ‘Oversight‘ member participating in review and summary aspects of ‘Supply Chain Management‘ to include sourcing, costing, quality and delivery issues with the product vendors. This involves developing relationships with existing and new (ESEW) major vendors‘ principles or senior management staff to help ensure continued quality and excellence from these vendors.
- Be the Encon ‘Supplier Delegate‘ within any pertinent distributor marketing and buying groups as specified by the General Manager. This is a specifically designated responsibility to manage Encon‘s efforts with a focus on targeting, optimizing and measuring the results through such Marketing Groups, reporting on achievement to the GM.
- Immediate field support for Regional Sales Managers through end user joint calls, participating in product development effort and expanded new product need identification.
- Assist in development of internal and external promotional activity including sales quotation support, marketing asset content generation such as white papers, sales collateral and related materials.
- At the direction of the GM, the associate will manage the ESEW/Safety Products Division approach to diverse market channels. This may include using specified Customer Service, Sales and Accounting Encon associates and Manufacturer Representative Groups, as required.
- This Manager will participate in the overall interaction of Encon‘s efforts with the regulatory approval agencies that we choose to use to gain ESEW product performance certification.
- Manage and implement the Training Programs used in the ESEW/Safety Division as available to Encon staff, Distributors, Manufacturer Representative Groups, contractors and end users.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct supervisor of a department, section, unit or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.
Job Requirements:
- Be able to travel internationally to make customer visitations, attend trade shows and industry meetings as designated by the General Manager.
- Must demonstrate good time management skills
- Must possess strong planning, organizational and execution skills
- Must have the ability to set goals and meet deadlines
- Have a proven history with technical product including mechanical and electrical features.
- Will possess excellent customer service skills
- Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner
- Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution
- Must have the ability to establish strong working relationships with end-user customers, contractors, distributors, co-workers and management
- Must demonstrate the ability to mentor new staff and to work with existing staff to cross-train across various accounting functions
- Will have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Long and varied hours required occasionally
- Ability to work at physically demanding functions to include extended exertion efforts such as walking long distances, high elevation ladder and stair climbing.
- Ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments such as in customer facilities where processes are emitting high temperatures or where winter-like environments prevail.
- Ability to work in dirty, dusty and generally unkempt ambient air conditions where safety related equipment, including respirators and heat or cold resistant outer wear may be mandatory to wear.
