Charlottesville, United States Commonwealth of Virginia Full time
The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (A&S) seeks applicants for a Divisional Resource Team Director to lead a Divisional Resource Team (DRT) that will expand the administrative capacity of the departments in that division and support their success. The DRTs are part of the Dean’s vision for engaging, developing, and recognizing staff’s critical role in achieving Arts & Sciences’ mission and strategic priorities. Inaugural members of the DRTs will have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of A&S and contribute to developing a collegial, creative, and service-oriented culture. Three positions are available: one for each of A&S’s three divisions (Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities).

We seek an energetic leader passionate about building a cross-functional team that supports and extends the administrative and operational capacity of each of the academic units in the division. As the DRT leader, the Director will provide overall leadership and management of the shared-services team in the division, develop strong relationships with department leadership, and provide strategic and long-range planning support to the units. The DRT will also support the communication, coordination, and execution of processes between the Dean’s Office and the division, such as curriculum planning, annual reporting, and hiring proposals.

The Director will report to the Chief of Staff and will be a close partner to the Divisional Associate Dean, providing administrative and operational expertise and and project management support for special initiatives. In coordination with the other divisions and the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Director and Associate Dean will collaborate to advance A&S priorities, resolve challenges, and cultivate collaborative divisional culture.

Monitor and maintain established DRT metrics, goals, and overall department service levels

Develop administrative & financial staff in the departments and on the DRT.
Continue to build a professional community among department managers and staff across the division.
Develop strong working relationships with Department Managers, to include a cadence of one-on-one check-ins.
Identify and/or create training and professional development opportunities.
Provide supervisory support and accountability for department managers in close partnership with department chairs and program directors.
F oster a collaborative, service-oriented environment for staff on the DRT, including direct supervision of administrative staff and indirect supervision of cross-functional team members.

Oversee administrative operations for the Division in the Dean’s Office.
Partner with the Divisional Associate Dean to prioritize and manage the administrative, operational, and special projects of the Division.
Coordinate with colleagues in the Dean’s Office, such as Research Administration, Data Analytics, Budget & Finance, and Faculty Affairs, to identify, define and respond to administrative needs of the Division.
Collaborate and coordinate with Directors in other A&S divisions to provide responsive, consistent support across divisions and serve as back-up for each other to provide continuity during DRT vacancies and PTO.
