Instructional Coach
TeachSIM i nstructional coaches provide remote instructional coaching for mentor teachers as they practice discrete skills in short, simulated scenarios. Instructional coaches will be trained on standardized coaching protocol s across four different mixed-reality simulation scenarios for preservice teachers . Some of the scenarios will focus on elementary mathematics practices, while others will focus on the coaching skills mentors use with student teachers . During a simulation session, the instructional coach will observe the mentor teacher complete a simulation scenario, then provide coaching on a best practice skill before the mentor teacher repeats the simulation. Through this instructional coaching process, mentor teachers develop stronger instructional skills and coaching skills that translate to their teaching and mentoring experiences.
