Charlottesville, United States Commonwealth of Virginia Full time
Dr. Jonee Wilson is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to collaborate on two NSF-funded projects that focus on equity and access in mathematics instruction. We seek a collaborator with training and experience in qualitative and/or mixed methods, with an interest in equity in STEM education.

The Validation of the Equity and Access Rubrics for Mathematics Instruction (VEAR-MI) project is a four-year study with the main goal of validating the EAR-MI (Equity and Access Rubrics for Mathematics Instruction), a new measure developed to capture practices aimed to support marginalized students in gaining access and more equitably participating in rigorous mathematical activity in elementary and middle-school classrooms.

The Honoring Equity and Access in Mathematics Instruction (HEAR-MI) project is a four-year study that aims to support instructional coaches & math teachers in enacting more equitable mathematics instruction through the use of EAR-MI rubric based coaching cycles grounded in video recordings of classroom instruction. This position is an annual re-appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon continuation of grant funding and successful job performance.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Engage in educational research related to equity in STEM education
Become lead author on two or more peer-reviewed papers, co-author on additional work
Participate in qualitative data collection tasks, including conducting interviews
Contributing to and supporting work with study participants (e.g., supporting project managers in recruiting and training instructional coaches for the HEAR-MI project)
Contribute and support development of annual progress reports for NSF
Assist with data cleaning and organization leading up to analysis
Lead qualitative data analysis tasks, including thematic analysis, qualitative coding of data (e.g. interview and video data), literature reviews, etc.
Complete annual review, planning and goal-setting tasks with Dr. Wilson toward the goal of developing a career in education, educational research or academia
