Assistant Management Accountant

JOB PURPOSE
You will be responsible for aiding the production of the management accounts on a monthly basis, supported by your Management Accountant. This will include the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and reconciliation of the purchase, sales, and vehicle ledgers. Throughout the month, you will produce key financial reports for utilisation across the business and work closely with the accounts team, supporting the day-to-day function of the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job description is not contractual, and the content may be updated at any time.
è Weekly financial reporting: to include group debtor, creditor and WIP reports, parts stock provisions, vehicle deposits banked, cash utilisation and stock reporting.
è Assist in the preparation and production of balance sheet reconciliations including intercompany balances, deposits banked, GRNI, suspense accounts and fixed assets.
è Manage asset register in line with company authorisation policy and processing monthly fixed asset depreciation.
è Review sales and purchase ledgers and escalate any unresolved issues to relevant managers.
è Work with the purchase ledger team to ensure that all monthly invoices have been logged and coded.
è Reconcile and agree the closing of purchase, sales, and vehicle ledgers at month end.
è Reconciliation of vehicle funding statements.
è Inputting statistical data including vehicle units and ageing balances.
è Monthly general ledger postings, including fixed overhead recharges and vehicle interest.
è Vehicle stock write downs - reporting to General Sales Manager and posting to vehicle stock card.
è To carry out review of goodwill, late costs, fuel card reports and company car status reports.
è Review and approval of new supplier requests.
è Other duties as required to support the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
Skills & Requirements
You will have experience at a clerical level, showing a full understanding of ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation and a strong grasp of double entry principals. An understanding of balance sheet reconciliation is essential, allowing you to support the Management Accountant in the month end close process. You should show excellent communication skills, allowing you to collaborate with both financial and operational members of the team effectively and professionally. You should be self-motivated and well-organised, allowing you to work proactively in a fast-paced environment. A driving licence is required for this role.
Experience
Knowledge of the motor trade industry is preferred, but not essential.
