Position Summary

The Systems Administrator I - Core Services works under the direct supervision of a Systems Administrator II, and assists in the administration, implementation, maintenance, operation and security of core server operating systems, directory services, file and print services, email, and antivirus systems. The SA-I-CS is knowledgeable of and executes processes and procedures for operation and maintenance of software and hardware-based components of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services, and various monitoring, logging, and notification services. The SA-I-CS assists in Core Services documentation and reporting, and performs other administrative tasks as assigned.

Pay Grade: 54

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education


Minimum Qualifications

100% -

1. Three (3) years of experience as a system administrator; AND

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or closely related field; OR

3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.


Duties and Responsibilities

1.Maintains internal and cloud applications, including, but not exclusive to: MS Server, MS Active Directory Services, MS Exchange, MS SOL Server, Anti-virus and associated security systems and applications.

2.Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.

3.Installs, configures, and maintains all virtual servers in a VM Ware environment.

4. Performs installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of supporting third-party computer software.

5.Provides systems management services, support, and product expertise for the implementation and knowledge transfer of server applications across the enterprise and various customer accounts.

6.Provides level two and level three technical support and serves as Core Services on-call support for problem resolution.

7.Documents procedures and guidelines for assigned responsibilities.

8.Provides root-cause analysis and documentation for system and application integration-related problems and implements solutions.

9.Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.

10.Performs other related duties as required or directed.


KSA's

KSAs -

1.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows server 2016+ and technologies (WSUS, SMTP, SFTP LDAP, HTTP, HTTPS) for debugging, setup, and administration.

2.Knowledge of VMWare ESX (including vCenter, SAN, NAS) to facilitate setup, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

3.Knowledge in Networking (IPAM, DNS, DHCP).

4. Working knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages for creating automated processes.

5.Knowledge of the use of project management and server resource management tools.

6.Skilled in oral and written communication – soft skills.

7.Skilled in evaluating current, new, and emerging technologies and products.

8.Skilled in maintaining server and service reference documentation.

9.Ability to interpret flow charts, block diagrams and related materials; and to conduct program tests.

10.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
