The Lucas Lab () within the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking to hire a research assistant with experience working with intrinsically disordered proteins.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will routinely include protein expression and protein purification, as well as the use of advanced biochemical and analytical equipment. The principal research focus will be on elucidating structural and biochemical features of amyloidogenic proteins. The successful candidate will be expected to independently execute experiments, compile data, analyze results, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts - all while promoting both a collegial and rigorous laboratory environment. Periodic technical progress reports will also be required.

This appointment will be on an hourly wage basis, with a target average of 29 hours per week annually. Typical hours are M - F but may sometimes include weekends.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related a discipline. Applications are sought from enthusiastic and hardworking candidates with a demonstrated laboratory skillset that includes sterile technique, pipetting, and gel electrophoresis, as well as general competency in detailed record keeping, data organization, and data presentation.
