The lab pursues basic discovery and translational research in cancer biology. Postdoc position(s) is immediately available to study the interactions between obesity, oncogenic translatome, and the tumor microenvironment. We utilize a variety of genetically engineered mouse models to understand B-cell development and Lymphomagenesis, functional genomics and proteomics, genome editing, and innovative screening platforms to study cancer biology with the ultimate goal to identify new druggable targets and effective therapeutic options. An ideal candidate should have earned a PhD in biomedical sciences with emphasis on biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cancer biology. Candidates with strong background in vivo experience with mouse models are strongly encouraged to apply. This individual must be well organized and able to plan and execute studies in an independent manner as well as in a collaborative setting and be ready to mentor junior members of the lab. Additionally, proficiency or experience in western blotting, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry analysis is also desirable. Core Responsibilities:

- ( 30%)

-Takes part in conceptualization and designing research studies and conceiving alternative approaches when required.

-Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

-Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

-Applies for fellowships and assists in writing scientific proposals and grants.
-Takes part in routine lab maintenance and management.
-Develops advanced animal and/or in vitro models and systems and provides alternative ideas and solutions.

-Basic cell culture

-Standard Mol Bio techniques for cloning

-Bacterial expression optimization and protein purification

-(20%)

-Help PI and lab members with specific lab-oriented tasks.
-Preparing documents for SRS, IBC and other as needed.
-Other Miscellaneous task (liq Nitrogen tank refill, IHC slides/blocks catalogue maintenance, indenting of lab reagents etc.)
-Helping and reporting the documents to numerous committees for smooth functioning of the lab.
-Collaborating with the other lab members as needed.
-Other miscellaneous lab duties

Minimum Hiring Standards:

-PhD in biomedical sciences with strong background in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics and genomics, immunology, or related fields.
-Proficiency with cancer mouse models strongly desired.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

-PhD in biomedical sciences with strong background in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics and genomics, immunology, or related fields.
-Proficiency with cancer mouse models strongly desired.
-Team player and ability to work independently are a must.
