This supervision includes problem-solving, responding to emergencies, roster management, employee relations, employee development, risk management considerations, and interacting effectively with other disciplines of the management team. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Plans, organizes and supervises security personnel on an assigned shift. Supervises employees to ensure compliance with established security rules, regulations and policies. Conducts inspections of all areas of the facility as assigned by the Corrections Supervisor IV (Major) in accordance with institution policy. Personally inspects all living and activity area during each tour of duty. Prepares evaluations of subordinate Corrections Supervisors in accordance with established department policy. Assigns personnel to duties in accordance with established daily roster. Ensures compliance with established daily routine/schedule. Trains subordinate personnel to perform their assigned duties. Approves reports submitted by subordinate personnel, including disciplinary reports, incident reports and narratives. Supervises routine searches as required by department policy and as directed by the Corrections Manager lI. Counsels/interacts with staff and inmates. ** All Uniformed security staff shall be considered essential personnel for their normally assigned shift during a declared inclement weatherA full position description and required Essential/Event Driven Physical Functions for this classification can be obtained by contacting KDOC_TCF_HR@ks.gov Qualifications: Education :High school diploma or equivalent Licensing & Certification :Valid driver’s license Minimum Qualifications :Applicants MUST have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in the field of corrections or in the detention of convicted offenders, including one year of supervisory experience . Must meet all minimum qualifications and necessary special requirements for COI A which include: At least 21 years of age at the time of appointment free of felony conviction(s), free of any felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C. § 922 (d) (9) and (g) (9) no DUI convictions within the last 24 months successfully completed the Corrections Officer Training Program (COTP). At the discretion of the agency, relevant college coursework or completion of corrections officer training in another jurisdiction may be substituted for some or all of the required COTP and for some or all of the required non-supervisory experience.Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements :
Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation. If not currently employed by the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) you will be required to pass a drug screening, a TB screening, and to complete a physical examination.
