Job Summary

We are looking for a mechanical engineer I to join our oil and gas team. You will be responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment for oil and gas projects. You will work closely with other engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure the quality and safety of our solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations and analysis for oil and gas systems and equipment, such as pipelines, pumps, compressors, valves, tanks, and vessels.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using CAD software and other tools.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, such as civil, structural, electrical, and environmental engineering, to ensure the integration and compatibility of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Conduct field inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Support project management and client communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Follow industry standards, codes, and regulations for oil and gas engineering.
  • Continuously update and improve your technical skills and knowledge of new technologies and best practices.
  • Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
  • Assist with performing basic professional mechanical engineering work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, infrastructure, usage, and mechanical systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Performs routine engineering functions and provides entry-level technical assistance on various design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications.
  • Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing basic technical assistance on various environmental, design, and construction issues.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site notebook/logs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, methods, and techniques for oil and gas systems and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build.
  • Familiarity with relevant mechanical system and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus.

  • Hours and Travel:
  • This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 70% of time spent in the office and 30% out of the office.
